Attending a Live Auction
For those who cannot attend, we will execute advance bids on catalogued items. If you’re new to New England Auctions, please contact us in advance of the sale. We’ll get your contact and shipping information, and ask you to fax in government-issued proof of identity and a signed copy of the Terms and Conditions of Sale, which appear in every catalogue. To place your bids, you can fax in a Bid Sheet until noon on the day of the sale, or place your bid by telephone at our office number, (413) 665-3253. You can also telephone us at the hotel to place bids on the day of the sale. That number is (413) 584-3100, and day of sale calls can only be accepted between noon and 5:30pm EDT.
Placing Advanced Bids online
When bidding online, you must enter your MAXIMUM bid for the item you are bidding on. The Bid that is entered is the bid that goes to the live auction. Bidding online ends at 10 AM E.S.T, the day of the auction. All bids are compiled and treated as if the buyer has called New England Book Auctions and placed a pre-auction bid. Your current high bid on our website will be the opening bid during the live auction and bids received from the audience may increase your high bid to your maximum amount. If a bidder from the audience outbids your maximum, you will not win that lot. If you are the highest bidder and the end of the auction, you will be contacted by email after the live auction to inform the customer if he/she were the winning bidder. If you are the winning bidder we work with you to secure shipping and payment options. If you are experiencing problems please email email@example.com
From time to time New England Book Auctions will use Live Auctioneers, in order to facilitate live bidding on the night of the auction.
